Data Link to Content Provider via Remote Function Call (RFC)
Classic version, in which an API is called up at the target destination via a Visual Basic, C or JAVA program.
Scenario "Connection AddressDoctor via RFC"
AddressDoctor GmbH is one of the market and innovation leaders in global address data quality in over 25 countries. Connection to Address Quality Web Services by AddressDoctor is implemented as a classic RFC in JAVA, which calls one of AddressDoctor’s web services, transfers new or changed address data from the SAP system to the service and returns a hit list from the external reference data pool.
Data Link to Content Provider via SAP NetWeaver:
Here, we provide a service (.NET or JAVA) as an EJB on SAP NetWeaver, which in turns communicates with the target system.
Scenario "Connection GIATA via SAP NetWeaver"
GIATA is the leading content provider for the tourism industry worldwide. To provide tourist applications with information on the destination area, an EJB was encapsulated on the SAP WAS, which can be used to display multimedia information in the portal.
Which of the two options is used depends on the existing SAP infrastructure and the options in the previous supplying system.
